World In Flames Game Info(PC)

Product Info

World in Flames is Matrix Games’ computer version of Australian Design Group’s classic board game. Covering both the European and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II, World in Flames is global in scope while simulating each branch of service in detail. Land units are corps and army level, supplemented with specialized divisions. Naval units include individual counters for every carrier, battleship, cruiser, and light cruiser in the war. Air units represent groups of 250 to 500 airplanes displayed on screen using 1000+ unique bitmapped images. With 6000+ unique units, 250+ countries, and a global map of 70,200 hexes, World in Flames is the premier World War II grand strategy game.

All 11 scenarios from World in Flames Final Edition are included and they range from the small 5 turn Barbarossa offensive in Russia and the 5 turn Guadalcanal battle in the Pacific, through to the 36 turn Global War campaign which spans all of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Atlantic, and the Pacific. You can play either the Axis or the Allied side or take the role of one of the 8 major powers. Besides solitaire and head-to-head, you can play over the Internet or by email (PBEM). The last two modes of play permit team play with up to 6 players (3 per side).

In addition to the full set of rules from World in Flames, Final Edition, there are 80 optional rules. Under the optional rules section you can choose to include the World in Flames expansion modules: Ships in Flames, Planes in Flames, Carrier Planes in Flames, Cruisers in Flames, Convoys in Flames, and others.

This simulation models national production from conveying raw resources over rail and sea lines to factories for the manufacturing infantry, armor, naval, and air combat units. Because oil was so important during World War II, there are separate optional rules for synthetic oil plants and deployment of oil reserves to the front lines. Game units are represented in both armies and corps, aircraft carriers, naval task forces, and the air groups that took part. Everything you need to re-fight the greatest conflict in history.

Two to six players make the strategic decisions that decide the fate of nations. What forces to produce, where to commit them, when and how? No two games of World in Flames play the same, no strategy is foolproof, any decision may have unforeseen, long-term consequences.

If you want to change the world then World in Flames is for you.

War Plan Orange: Dreadnoughts in the Pacific 1922 - 1930 Game Info(PC)

Written by igcompany on Monday, 23 January 2012 22:17.

Product Info

The Year is 1922.  World War 1 has come and gone and the world has settled into an uneasy peace.  The alliance between the United States and the other powers is weak as the powers try to maintain peace in Europe.  Fearful of the growing strength of Japan, the United States created a series of plans in case of a pacific war with Japan.  Their name:  War Plan Orange.  Consisting of three different scenarios, War Plan Orange was a comprehensive and real life "What if" scenario for the war in the pacific.  In the world of Matrix Games a different story is going to unfold, and Japan, seeking natural resources to grow their power, will turn the full strength of their navy against the industrial giant of the United States.

Enter War Plan Orange:  Dreadnoughts in the Pacific 1922-1930, where you will command the pacific fleet for either power in four different campaigns.  The two major campaigns will take you from 1922 - 1926 and from 1926 - 1930.  With incredible attention to detail and historical accuracy, War Plan Orange is the perfect modification to War in the Pacific for anyone who loves the time period between World War 1 and World War 2.  The lack of airpower and inefficient fuels, as well as the natural resources required by both sides make War Plan Orange a completely different experience.

Additionally there are two PBEM scenarios included, making War Plan Orange powerful enough to stand on its own, as well as one of the largest mods and expansions to be released for any game.  War in the Pacific fans will rejoice and newcomers will stand in awe of the tactical battles that will be waged in one of the greatest wars that never was (or at least, never was until more than a decade later).

Features

  • Eight Scenarios, 2 campaigns with three variants each, and two smaller scenarios.
  • A Historically accurate Air OOB, with over 74 different aircraft types, including wheel and float variants of several different aircraft.
  • A historically accurate Naval OOB, with over 311 historic Japanese, American, British, French, Canadian, Australian, Dutch, Chinese, and even Siamese ship classes.
  • A Full ship OOB, including every ship of every class modeled that existed in the 1920s, regardless of whether or not the ships are in any of the scenarios.
  • A Comprehensive Land OOB, from French forces in Indo China to the activation order of US Infantry Divisions.
  • Every army weapon used by any of the armies of the time are modeled, from the US Army 4 inch Mortar Mark I to the British 60 pound Gun Mk II, to the Japanese 24cm Type 45 Field Gun.
  • Early and experimental tank models are available, from the French built FT-17 to the US M1921 Medium tank.
  • Historically accurate graphic depictions of ships, including refits and modernizations.
  • A challenging AI that provides a tough, fun game.
  • An even better PBEM game, accurately reflecting problems faced by 1920s War Planners.
  • No Production System! While War in the Pacifics production system is retained, it is not used by any of the default scenarios, allowing new players to jump right in playing as the Japanese.
  • Accurate Aircraft squadrons, based on World War I and 1920s documents depicting probable deployments and strengths, as well as historic deployments where possible.
  • War Plan Orange provides an accurate representation of the problems facing naval planners in the 1920s, and is a good representation of the forces available to each nation.
  • Open campaigns! In the PBEM variants of the large campaigns, victory points are equal starting out, allowing various scenarios to be played. China, Indo China, the Philippines, anything is possible, with no bottlenecks to restrict players. The AI campaigns do simulate a war based on the real plan; in PBEM players can Go Wild.
  • Never were ships! War Plan Orange features several classes of ships that never saw the light of day, including the Tosa, Kii, and South Dakota class battleships (both a sixteen inch gun and a Tillman inspired 18 inch gun version), and Amagi, Lexington, and G3 class battle cruisers.
  • In addition, pre-dreadnought battleships, victims of mass scrapings in the 1920s, may now have the chance to do what was never granted them and fight for the title of Kings of the Sea

Product Info

Based on the award winning War in the Pacific from 2 by 3 Games and Matrix Games, the standalone expansion, Gary Grigsby’s War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition, adds significant improvements and changes to the original title to enhance game play, improve realism, and increase historical accuracy. With dozens of new features, new art, and engine improvements, War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition is the most realistic and engrossing WWII Pacific theatre game available. The immense scale is 40 miles per hex with losses covering individual vehicles, aircraft, guns and squads. Since half the planet Earth is covered by the titanic Pacific struggle, the game is massive in scope, covering thousands of ships tens of thousands of aircraft.

There are 15 campaigns included with the game, which can be played against the computer opponent, hot seat, and by secure email. Combined with a robust and time-proven engine, War in the Pacific – Admiral’s Edition gives you the chance to fight the entire war your way on every level.

War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition allows the player to experience one of the most massive conflicts history has ever seen on all fronts and in all forms:

  • The War At Sea– The unparalleled realism in Admiral’s Edition includes critical hit locations for all weapons platforms and radar installations, individual armor locations for ships, and a wealth of performance and characteristics data. Additionally, each ship’s crew has an experience rating for day and night combat. Every ship from mighty carriers and battleships down to gun boats has a commander with his own strengths and weaknesses. The game includes thousands of ships chosen from hundreds of ship classes.

Pilots and crews are tracked separately from aircraft and have individual skill, experience, and fatigue ratings. When pilots are in short supply, they can be placed into the pilot pool and reassigned to other groups using an intuitive and advanced pilot pool system.
  • The War on the Ground- Troops are needed to maintain and garrison bases and to deprive the enemy of his bases. So, troops are handled with care. There are a substantial number of different types of land-based units which are mostly broken down to division and brigade level, but there are many independent regiments and battalions. These are all represented by different unit counters and have different capabilities and include engineers, combat squads, Marine squads, support squads, air support sections, Sherman tanks, Stuart tanks, motorized forces, a number of mortars and field artillery and many others.

The War on the Ground - Troops are needed to maintain and garrison bases and to deprive the enemy of his bases. So, troops are handled with care. There are a goodly number of different types of land-based units. The unit counters are mostly on division and brigade level, but there are many independent regiments and battalions. There are 15 campaigns included with the game, which can be played against the computer opponent, hot seat, by secure email. He can choose to increase the size of factories or change what they are building at the cost of retooling. He can also speed up or retard the building of specific ships to the possible detriment of the shipbuilding schedule.
